SAVE UK Activities

SAVE UK - The Road to Understanding: Living together- but how?

SAVE UK is intent on addressing the pressing issues of all forms of violent extremism. SAVE UK will initially focus on political and religious violent extremism to understand the motivation of those involved and to investigate the tools they use to spread their message and the ways they recruit new members. SAVE UK will reach out to the young generation in Britain to enhance the dialogue between diverse segments of society.

SAVE UK sets out to address the educated young generation that is the driving force for change, but is also a group at risk to fall into the trap of extremist ideologies. SAVE UK activists will build diverse task forces in cooperation with all ethnic communities, including survivors and family members of victims of the 7/7 attacks, engaged voices from the Muslim communities, former members of Islamist groups, and a diverse spectrum of university students across the UK. SAVE UK wants to enhance a dialogue between all these groups in order to contribute to new ways of understanding and bridge building.

SAVE UK aims to highlight the damage and destruction of radical and violent ideologies and actions.
The ambitious aim of SAVE UK is to create a national network of women who are dedicated to ending terrorism and sharing best-practices. SAVE UK will be inclusive in terms of ethnic, religious and social backgrounds to create an environment of respect, tolerance and understanding and to live in harmony with fellow citizens in the U.K and the entire globe. SAVE UK is based on the belief that each individual has a voice and a responsibility to stand up against terrorism.

The SAVE documentary “Journeys through Darkness” will serve as a kick-off tool for debates with students at leading universities across Britain to challenge the ideologies of violent extremism. Hadiya, the SAVE UK project coordinator, is part of this film in which she explains her journey in and out of an extremist organization.
