The Worst Form of Violence

WHO Report on women´s health and domestic violence released recently

Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home…’
-Eleanor Roosevelt

Domestic violence remains the worst form of abuse against women all over the world. Even at a time of technological advancements and the claims of a better life, women are still groping in fear and self-pity.
According to the WHO Multi Country Study on Women’s Health and Domestic Violence, one in six women have suffered abuse. The study, which included 24.000 women in 10 countries, was conducted in Bangladesh, Brazil, Ethiopia, Japan, Namibia, Peru, Samoa, Serbia and Montenegro, Thailand and Tanzania. It found out that violence was more prevalent in poorer countries and that women from these countries were more likely to think that violence was justified.

“Violence against women by an intimate partner is a major contributor to the ill-health of women”, the report starts with.

Work with us until a woman breaks from shame and silences, until she knows the joy and freedom of living a life free from the threat of violence and finally women can gain the power and the courage to live their lives to their fullest potential.
