13 Expert will train 60 Mothers in preventing radicalization
Women without Borders successfully trained social workers, psychologists, educators and security experts as the Mothers School trainers in Vienna.
Trainers will incorporate the 10 week training into their professional work, guaranteeing the important and sustainable implementation of the Mothers School Against Extremism project in Vienna. The first Mothers School group will begin this week, with the others to follow at the end of October. Stay tuned!
And a sincere thanks to our trainers for their commitment. The Mothers School Model, scaling-up across Europe this year, starts in Austria at a time of heightened social and geopolitical uncertainty, including the increasing expansion and horrific human rights abuses of the so-called Islamic State. The threat is now closer to home as radical preachers and toxic ideologies continually radicalize and recruit youth. Mothers, in their emotional access and proximity to their children are best placed to recognize early warning signs, but need the skills and training to respond effectively. The Mothers Schools offer a platform where mothers can find support, build their confidence, and gain the tools and strategies to combat the threat of radicalization.
The Austrian Mothers Schools are supported by the Austrian Social Ministry, the Austrian Initiative Wider die Gewalt and the Ministry for Education and Women´s Affairs. We also thank Bank Austria for their kind sponsorship.
