Global Mothers School Roll Out
“The First School is the Home and the First Teacher is the Mother” – Khadijah Hawaja, Nigeria
We are pleased to share with you the full length version of our latest film showing our Mothers School mobilizers from India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Zanzibar.
By sensitizing mothers of adolescents in communities at risk, they can play a more active role in the prevention of radicalization and violent extremism.
Mothers Schools is SAVE’s unique model to mobilize mothers and translate this non-traditional approach to security into a reality. We provide women with the space and tools to challenge extremist thinking and to develop alternative human strategies at the home front.
Through a series of mothers’ trainings, the women build-up and strengthen their self-confidence, share their experiences with story-telling techniques, and connect the risk factors through the lens of child development. Mothers are encouraged to recognize and react to early warning signs of radicalization and improve family communications as a prevention strategy!
Then mothers feel enlivened, more attuned to their children’s psycho-social needs and more aware of their own potential force to guide and support their children through the regional currents of unrest.
