"Bridging the Gap" in Saudi Arabia

Presentation of research study in Riyadh

Dr. Edit Schlaffer is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from December 8th to 15th to present the findings of the "Bridging the Gap" research study. Conducted in conjuntion with Dr. Fawziah al Bakr of King Saud University, the study surveyed 4,455 male and female university students at leading universities in Saudi Arabia to determine the young generation's hopes, dreams, and hurdles.

The findings show that both men and women desire a change in gender roles, and the majority of the respondents feel confident that this change will occur within the next five years. Men and women also look forward to striking a career-family balance that works for both genders, while religion, tradition, and family remain treasured values.

Dr. Schlaffer will present the findings at King Saud University on December 8th, 2009. On December 13th, Austrian Ambassador Dr. Johannes Wimmer will host a presentation at the Austrian Residence.

More information about the presentations and an executive summary of the findings will be available shortly.
