04. March 2005 17:30

Walking into the Future – Female Strategies for Change. Marking the International Womens´s Day on March 8th 2005, Women without Borders organised an event in New Delhi, hosted by the Austrian Embassy and Dr. Jutta Stefan-Bastl. We invited five women, representing strong female voices from South Asia, to discuss the female strategies for change. This Panel presented role-models, who stand for female competence and confidence. They reflected their personal experiences in the context of building a gender-just society. The following questions were discussed at length: How have women in India shaped their own lifes?  Which personal and political strategies have worked well? How can equitable and capable numbers of women be motivated to contribute actively in the shaping of their society? How can we make the issues relevant to women into a greater personal, social and political priority?

The conclusions of this discussion allow us to identify similarities, work together more harmoniously, learn from each other, coordinate our energies and strategies and be more effective.
